I’m Al. (To clarify, it’s A-L, not ai or owl.) 28 year old non-binary artist, writer, and — by day, healthcare professional for a nonprofit. Since I was a child, I have been called to the weird. Mythical, macabre things inspire my art. I am a daydreamer, a storyteller, and a maker. My work has been published and shown across the United States.

I was hatched in northern Virginia, the larval phase took place in London, England, I pupated in Denver, Colorado -- and became an adult critter in Richmond, Virginia. Then my wings came in. I drove from the east coast to the west, all the way across the country to settle in my dream city, Seattle.

I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth university, school of the arts with a Bachelor’s in Communication Arts. Go Rams. When I’m not drawing I can be found going bump in the night, volunteering at local nonprofits, and watching horror movies.

I am very passionate about mental health and supporting those who are navigating challenges in that area. Tangential to that — if you are interested in lucid dreaming, my blog may be of interest to you!
